La Creperie, a crepe you won’t forget !
You’ve probably gone French in Hong Kong, but you most certainly haven’t gone full French. And that is Brittany French. Yes, the distinction is absolutely crucial. Brittany is known for its salty crepes (galette) and cider. La Creperie is the full package in that regard, no Bretons would be disappointed. The restaurant is in Sheung Wan and proudly shows its Brittany origins with white and blue stripes. The staff is nice, smiling and here to help. At lunch time there might be some queue but it will not take you long to get in. From there you’ll just have a great experience.
We highly recommend the set lunch. It has one crepe for the main course, on crepe for dessert and one drink for around 120hk! Trust HK.salad when we say it will fill you for sure! We went for “la complete” which is a salty crepe with egg, lettuce, cheese and ham. Served rapidly, the edges are crunchy and the middle is all soft and cheesy. It feels like France and definitely feels like love was in the recipe. It needs, no must be accompanied with cider which is served in very cute and typical little bowls. There you have the option of having it “doux” (sweeter) or “brut” (stronger), it depends on your taste (we went brut).
What is also great is about La Creperie is that when you think it’s over the best is yet to come. Yes, we are talking about the dessert. A sweet crepe, with Nutella, caramel, or banana (think big here) is the final touch that makes the difference. The crepe has little bits of sugar in it which very very subtly adds a crunchy feeling.
If you think a crepe isn’t a real meal, we challenge you to go there and think the same after the amazing lunch/dinner that you’ll have. Enjoy!
